TRAILER PLANS

Although I am no longer building trailers, the plans I developed are available so that you, a friend or a local shop can build an “Alaska Tough Trailer”.  These are easy-to-follow plans with colored pictures of each step, plus I am only a phone call or e-mail away if you run into something you don’t understand or have a question.

Example images from text and photos in plans

(Example from Meatwagon Plans)

Step 2.  Clamp a 1 7/8” coupler under the tongue - weld or bolt into place.

Step 4.  Next cut 2 pieces of  3” channel, each  64" long and clamp to an "A" - frame coupler for the tongue.  Set upside down on the trailer frame supported with another block.

MOBILE FISH HOUSE TRAILER PLAN

Plan builds this 6’ x 12’ trailer that uses a special torsion axle that will allow the frame to be lowered so that it rests only 4” off the ice on blocks of wood which prevents it from getting “frozen in”.  You can then design & build your dream fish house and never have the hassle of trying to load or unload a clumsy house onto a trailer not designed to carry it as the house stays on the trailer.  You can use the steps in this plan to build most any size single or double axle fish house trailer you wish.

TILT SNOWMOBILE / ATV TRAILER PLAN

This plan will build an 8’ x 10’ tilt  snowmobile / ATV type trailer and includes the ski clamp down bars.  May be adapted or modified for wider or longer applications.

ATV Mini-Road Grader

This plan provides an easy-to-build mini grader to pull behind your ATV, car, mini-van, truck or maybe your lawn tractor.  This very simple unit uses a 6' or 7' grader wear bar (cutting edge) for the blade and cement blocks for weight. The blade can be raised approx. 2" for easy travel and lowered for grading. Fine tuning the blade depth is easily done by removing or adding blocks and or raising or lowering tire air pressure.  Plan is adaptable for various widths.

FLIP-UP & REMOVABLE “V” NOSE OPTION PLAN

Flip Up V-Nose Ramp

Flat Bed with Flip-up Option

This is the option for those of you who need the strength & load capability that only an “A”-frame tongue trailer can provide but would like the features & versatility of a single tongue, “V”-nose snowmobile trailer. This option gives you the ability of driving your snowmobiles or ATV,s off the front of your trailer but can be removed for regular flatbed duty if desired. When in the upright position, the V-nose acts as a rock guard for your cargo as well. This “Flip-up & Removable V-nose” option can be added with most 8’ – 8.5’ wide single or double axle trailers or plans.  Plan includes steps for extending the trailer tongue when building the basic trailer to then add this “flip-up” option.

REAR RAMP & SKI BAR OPTION PLAN

This is included in with “V” nose snowmobile trailer plans, however many folks have other styles of trailers that they would like to also carry their ATVs or snowmobiles on.  This option plan shows you how to build the 4’x 5’ slide-out ramp and tray plus the ski bars.  Add this option plan to your car hauler, flatbed or utility trailer plans order and increase the versatility of your trailer.

Double axle trailer

LANDSCAPE TRAILER REMOVABLE BASKET OPTION PLAN

Finished view

Finished view

Folks in the landscape / lawn care business know the value of a secure storage basket and upright mounting rack on their trailers. As there seems to be as many designs & varied features as trailers, this plan includes pictures of other landscape trailer designs to encourage your creativeness.  In other words, modify this design to suit your particular needs. This option can be included in a new trailer build or added to an existing trailer as a permanent or removable feature. It is not included in other plans but can be ordered separately or just add it to your utility or car hauler plans order and save the Shipping and Handling.

EXPANDED METAL TAILGATE OPTION PLAN

Tailgate up

Tailgate down

Often referred to as a “landscapers” ramp, this fold-down ramp can be easily added to any utility or car hauler type trailer.  Not included in other plans but can be ordered separately or just add it to your utility or car hauler plans order and save the S & H.

“V”-NOSE DOUBLE FRONT RAMP & ROCK GUARD OPTION PLAN

Double Ramps

V" Front Ramps w/Rock Guards

This is the option plan for those who don’t want to bother moving your loading ramp from the back to the “V” nose of your trailer.  Not included in basic snowmobile plans but can be added to your single or double axle “V”-nose snowmobile trailer plans order.
